Preparing for a Triathlon
That's right. I've finally gone crazy enough to decide to enter a Triathlon. I've never been in an event like this before. I've never competitively ran or biked before. Though I have competitively swam, although I wasn't really the best at it. That being said, it's time to get my butt into gear and push myself so I can even stand a chance of actually finishing the who triathlon. That's my only goal. I don't really plan on DOING WELL, I just plan on DOING.
The Triathlon will be held on August 10th and it's through the Marion YMCA. (Link here.) It will consist of 500 yards for the swimming portion, 12 miles for the biking portion, and a 5k for the jogging portion. Looking at these 3 legs of the event, I realize that I have been able to do all those events individually before. I love to swim the 500 Free in swimming, I usually ride for 12 miles when I wake up and have time in the morning, and when I use my treadmill, I usually only do a 5k because it doesn't take too long and still gets the blood pumping.
So to make sure that I am able to do all these event back-to-back I have started training as of July 1st. I want to be able to give myself enough to get into shape and think over what I am about to be doing. Hopefully this whole idea doesn't end in total disaster.
